Public Lecture on From Story to Screen: Adapting Philosophy and Culture through Film (with film screening) (16 Oct 2025)

In this public lecture, renowned filmmaker and writer Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche will share insights on adaptation, rewriting, and directing, focusing on transforming stories, philosophy, and cultural values into visual narratives. Drawing from his filmmaking experience, particularly his recent film Pig at the Crossing, Rinpoche will discuss how Buddhist concepts such as bardo, the state between death and rebirth, can be illustrated through cinema. The lecture will offer reflections on reshaping narrative and medium to make complex concepts accessible to wider audiences.
